This means that I would send paid traffic to a sales page or a review page, but I would not send paid traffic to a blog, forum, article directory, or other information-style website.

Paid traffic should be reserved for situations where you are promoting something very specific that has already been proven to convert. Otherwise, stick with free traffic.

How To Buy Traffic to Your Website

You can buy traffic for your website with things like banner advertising, solo ads, re-marketing , pay-per-click and social media advertising.

Banner Advertising

Online banner advertising consists of rectangular advertisements which appear on websites. They all share the same common objective to encourage a viewer to click on the banner and then be taken to the advertisers website or squeeze page.

The cost of banner ads is calculated in two ways. One is for a set period of time (normally 30 days) and the other is for the number of impressions (ie, how often the ad is shown). Back links, also known as inbound links, are another factor used by search engines to provide results. Back Links are links that are directed towards your work from home website from other websites. When search engines calculate the relevance of a site to a keyword, they look at the number of quality inbound links to that website. The more relevant the website that is linking back to your website, the better the quality of the back link. Therefore, if your blog is about gardening, a link from a cake baking website is not very relevant.

3. Use pictures in your blog.

When you write your own blog, use pictures, images or photos to improve search engine rankings.  Search engines investigate the code of the blog in addition to the words. When you upload an image and you give it a title (or image tag) the search engine will view the information provided in the image tags. So, if you tag your image with a relevant keyword, the search engine will take this into consideration when proving search results.

4. Keep your blog interesting.

Finally, one of the simplest ways to drive traffic to your blog is to regularly update it and keep it interesting. An interesting blog is much more likely to maintain blog traffic and generate new traffic because readers will keep coming back to the blog  and will recommend the blog to others within the  target audience.

5. Write your own blog regularly

Search engines like fresh content, so it is important to regularly write a blog post. You would use a landing page for your exiting contacts, ie, people who are already on your email marketing list. Again, the page should clearly outline the benefits of your specific product or service that you are offering but should contain more detail than a squeeze page. Remember that because this person is on your list, they have already expressed an interest in your products and services, so you can go into much more detail and seek to persuade the visitor to complete a transaction for an immediate or eventual sale.

Remember that people will buy from your online business when they are ready to buy, not when you are ready to sell – so it is important to refine and amend your landing pages and squeeze pages to suit the specific audience with a specific product.

You can also see how successful your pages by gauging the conversation rate of your pages. This is done by comparing the numbers of visits to the page (or the number of times your ad or link was clicked) to the number of people who then took action, ie, entered their name and email or purchased a product.

To obtain your conversion rate, divide the total number of opt-ins or sales by the total number of clicks and multiply by 100. For example, if your ad had 500 click-throughs and 100 opt-ins, your conversation rate would be 20% (100 divided by 500 multiplied by 100 = 20%).

Typically, a good landing page will have between a  5 to 15% conversion rate on average.
A good squeeze page will be have between a 15 to 40% opt-in rate on average.
