6 Reasons Why Your Facebook Advertising Is Not Working
There are more than 800 million people using Facebook everyday and Facebook advertising offers a highly targeted way to reach your prospective customers. You can create ads that appear only to specific groups or segments of people based on the information contained within their profile or based on gender, location, or personal preferences.
But, as with any type of advertising or marketing, you have to make sure that your Facebook advertising is right from the outset or you will lose money.
Here are 6 reasons why your campaign may not as effective as possible:
1. Not Knowing Your Objectives
Before actually starting your Facebook advertising campaign, make sure you know what you want your campaign to achieve. Is it product sales, sign-ups or perhaps “Likes” of your Facebook Page? If you don’t know what you want to achieve you will have no idea if your campaign was a success or not.
2. Not Targeting Your Audience
You cannot sell everything to everybody and Facebook advertising is excellent for creating ads for your target audience. You can specify to reach people depending on where they live, their gender and their age. You can target the interests of your audience and their job titles.
3. Your Message Is Not Clear
Facebook advertising rules state that you can have 25 characters for the title and 135 characters for the text. That’s not a lot of words, so your ad needs to get to the point quickly. What are you offering? What is the main benefit for your target audience to actually click on your ad?
4. Your Image Is Wrong
Your ad must have an image. The aspect ratio is a landscape shape (4:3 or 16:9). The size is 110 pixels wide x 80 pixels high. Make sure that your image coordinates with the the text on your ad and don’t use an image that is so crowded and busy that you cannot tell what it is.
5. You’re Sending People To The Wrong Place
When somebody clicks on your ad, where are you sending them? You can send people who click on your ad to a landing page outside of Facebook, or to a specific Facebook Page, Event, Application or Group. Have a consistency between your Facebook advertising message and the page that you send somebody to when they click on it. The more consistency between the two, the greater probability that they will respond to your ad.
6. You Don’t Have A Budget
You must have a set budget and duration for your campaign. There are two options with Facebook advertising costs. You can set a daily budget or a budget for the duration of the campaign. When you set you bid price you can enter a specific maximum bid price, or you can opt for Facebook’s suggested bid price. You can pay via cost per thousand impressions (CPM) or cost per click (CPC).
