5 Tips For Writing A Successful Blog
Writing a successful blog can be one of your most powerful marketing assets if you stick to the subjects your prospects and customers find most interesting and avoid the hard sell.
Blogs play a key role in educating prospects so that they may become future customers. Many of your most qualified leads, whether you’ve identified them or not ,will read your blog at some stage.
Building a successful blog will also improve your organic search engine results as you add new pages to your website and encourage inbound links.
1. Write A List
One of most effective secrets to a successful blog is to write a list. List blog posts are effective because they are easily read. Plus, readers know precisely what they will be getting just by viewing the headline. For example, you saw this blog post and knew that it would provide “5 Tips For Writing a Successful Blog” – and that is what I’m giving you!
Lists encourage others to share the content with their social networks, sometimes even before clicking the link and reading it themselves. List posts can also draw in inbound links. For example, if you list the top 10 people who have influenced you and your business, those people profiled are likely to link back to your post from their own blog or corporate website.
2. Write the Unexpected
Lists, tips and check-lists are great formats for successful blogging, but to create a post that really is different, write a reverse tips or check-list post. For example, I could have called this blog post, “How to Write Blogs That Will Fail”. It would mean changing the text around so that it was about how not to write a blog, but, at the end of the day, either post would provide the same basic content on tips for writing a successful blog. The reverse post concept can sometimes appealing to more readers and inbound links, because of the ‘shock’ value.
3. Make Your Blog Relevant
Successful blogging will often relate to current events. This helps to make your posts relevant, timely and interesting. For example, if you are in the sports market, you could incorporate details about a major forthcoming sporting events into your blog. For example, you could discuss how sports players are preparing for the event and tie in how your products or service can help your readers get ready for their next event or competition.
4. Make Use Of Someone Else’s Thoughts
A good habit for writing a successful blog is commenting on interviews that have been conducted with market leaders in your particular market or niche. This makes great content for your blog post. If a top influential person has provided insight on a range topics within your industry or marketplace, you can make use of that information to provide interesting, relevant content for readers. It can also help to establish your position as an authority in your market.
5. Use Statistics, Survey Results or Other Research.
Blogs that contain research results, whether based on an in-depth research report or a less formal reader poll, are a great way for writing a successful blog.
