Setting Up Your Own Business Is Easier Than You Think (part 2)
Many people feel like they are stuck in a rut of a job with no way out and are faced with the prospect of carrying on with a job that they are totally bored with until they can afford to retire.
In part 1 of this article, Bored With Your Job? A New Income Opportunity Exists Where You’ve Probably Never Thought About, we looked at how the internet provides many opportunities for setting up your own business. The internet makes it possible for anybody from any background or education level to start setting up a small business online due to the low start-up costs and resources readily available.
Here are steps 6 to 10 for setting up your own business on the internet.
6. Build a Website
Your website is your link to your potential customers. There are many systems available that make it simple to setting up your own business online. Your website should be created from the view of your customers. It does take work to get prospective clients to visit your website, so when they do arrive you have to ensure it immediately informs them about the benefits of your products or services and how it can help them.
7. Marketing Your Online Business
Investing in marketing to attract clients is an important part of setting up your own business, whether offline or online. Without any marketing or advertising nobody will know that you even have any sort of business set up. Marketing is usually where new online business owners fail as they spread themselves too thin with lots of different advertising models and channels. The key is test each channel on a small basis. If it works, scale it up. If it does not, drop it and move onto the next one.
8. Create a List of Customers
Starting your own business’s list of customers is vital for the new online business owner. This list is your business. If a prospective client visits your website, they may like what they see on your website but they may not be ready, or able, to buy from you at that exact time. Thus, you need to obtain their name and email address so that you can begin to develop a relationship with them via e-mail. You need a form on your website to capture their email address, and in exchange for their email, you provide them with useful information like a free report or video.
9. Build a Relationship With Your Customers
Once you have a prospective client on your database list you have to develop a relationship with them. This is very important when setting up your own business. If you continually send emails with hard sales messages it will turn customers away. If somebody provided you with their email address because they saw value in what you could provide, you need to keep giving them appropriate and useful information. After a time, they will come to respect your knowledge and will be more willing to spend money to buy more from you. Setting up your own business does take time. On average it requires between 7 to 10 exposures to your message before a client will begin to consider buying from you.
10. Be Willing To Learn
Setting up your own business online is very rewarding but it can also be a lonely and frustrating journey. You can learn a lot from individuals who have gone before you and they can show you how to avoid the mistakes they have made so that you can find the quickest possible way to success and receive help with any problems that you may have.
