The truth is, there is some measure of luck involved with experiencing success in life and in work. Where you’re born, what you look like, and even your name can play important roles in your ability to experience success.
However, there is a lot more to success than luck. Even if you’re born with an advantage, you still need talent, intelligence, skills, and a willingness to try and take some risk to experience the success you desire.

7 Elements For Success in Life
Various studies show that luck follows the 80:20 rule, with 20% of the input resulting in 80% of the results. That may mean that luck does play a role, but it’s not the most important role – or the only role.
It just shows that due to luck of birth, you may have more resources to accomplish your goals, but you’re still going to have to do the work to achieve success.
1. Address Your Belief System
There’s no doubt that some measure of luck and randomness plays a role in your successes and your failures. However, if you have the belief system that you’re unlucky, you’ll inform your decisions and you may not take enough risk to experience success due to lack of belief in yourself.
2. Acknowledge Your Luck
If you’re a person who was born with an advantage that gives you a head start on others, it’s perfectly acceptable to acknowledge it. In fact, knowing that it helps you is a sign of intelligence and will allow you to accept where you are and do the work to move forward.
3. Build on Your Luck
Once you accept the luck you have had so far in your life, you can build on it. For example, if you were born in a country that makes it easy for you to get an education, why not take advantage of that. If you have been born into a family that can help you with start-up money, take it. There is nothing to feel bad about when you’re lucky.
4. Expand on Your Luck
You can set up your children to have even more luck, thus helping advance their success. Expand on your own luck by setting up your life so that your kids experience even more opportunities than you did.
5. Don’t Rely on Your Luck
The problem with luck is that it’s random. When something is random, it’s not totally repeatable. Therefore, don’t just rest and think that luck will always take care of your needs. Instead, identify your needs and learn what you need to learn in order to perform better.
6. Success Breeds Success
The interesting thing about success is that whether it’s a success due to luck or due to hard work, once you experience it, it starts getting easier. For example, if you show your success to a customer, you’re likely to get another customer.
7. Set Up Processes and Systems
The other thing that can help you get more success is to set up processes and systems based on your research, so that you can become more productive in your journey toward success.
