How Do Marketing Videos For Business Work?

Are You Using Marketing Videos For Business?

Video marketing is very effective. But when you create marketing videos for business, it’s important to understand what you’re really doing and how it all works together. This means knowing who your audience is, what they want, what they need and how your information solves their problems better than your competition does.

When you break it down, a marketing video simply uses both images and the audio to communicate your message to your target audience. So how exactly do marketing videos for business work?

Video will make up 80% of all internet traffic by 2019.

Assuming you’ve identified your audience, narrowed down your subject matter, and you know what you want to teach to your audience, it’s important to create a very targeted video that’s no more than two to five minutes long. That’s about the maximum attention span most audiences have.

It may not sound very long, but it gives you plenty of time to provide value, relevance and the immediate solutions that your audience wants.

Spreads Your Brand’s Message and Boosts Brand Awareness

If you ensure that each video you create is branded no matter how far it travels once you share it, the information will also boost your brand’s awareness. They say it takes a new person at least seven times seeing your brand before they start to remember it. That’s why even when people don’t click on the video and watch it, they’ll still get some of the information into their brain if it’s branded well. And, if you get the headline right, they might share it, which spreads your message even further.

Provides Value to Your Audience

When you can provide a short video to explain something important to your audience that would take longer to explain in print, you’re providing enormous value to them. Plus, most of your audience will be impressed that you took the time to make the video. It’s not seen as easy to do because there are some tools needed  and some thought must go into the organization of the video. But don’t worry, it’s not really that hard.

Marketing videos for business can be used in direct advertisements, on the top of a sales page, in an email message, and in your blog. Doing so will expand your brand, boost your visibility, and solidify your expertise quotient.

Components of a Great Marketing Video

Before you start creating video, it’s important to understand what makes up the best marketing videos.  Below are the various components you need so that you can ensure that your videos are created with maximum attention to the details. This will ensure you get more eyes on your video and therefore, more click-throughs to your calls to action.

The Right Technology

The most important aspects of marketing videos for businesses are that people can clearly see what’s happening and hear what’s happening. That means lighting and audio are super-important. Today it’s not hard to find a good inexpensive camera. Chances are the camera on your iPhone or Android smartphone is good enough.

  • Camera – As mentioned, you can probably use any digital camera you already have, including your smartphone if that’s what you have. But, if you can spring for more money on a camera, there are many DSLR cameras that also record which you can use for your videos. You can also use the camera that comes on your computer, or one that is an add-on for your computer.
  • Lighting – If you can’t afford to pay for specialized lighting, there are ways to trick the camera. First, set up your desk so that you can record when the natural light from the sun is shining in the window. That way the light is on your face. If you record outdoors, that can also help. But, you will have to arrange your recording schedule based on the sunshine. Lighting doesn’t have to cost much, but one warning about the so-called Diva lights. If you wear glasses, it will reflect off them. Instead, you’re going to want whole-room lighting that lights from above.
  • Sound – You will need a special or additional mic over the one that comes with your camera or the one that comes with your computer. Use an earbud, or a special mic like a Yeti. But, they don’t need to be expensive. It depends on the type of camera you have, but if you order the additional mic to plug into your camera that will help it sound great. If you don’t mind using earbuds when recording directly with your computer, that can work great too. The trick is to have a very quiet room without an echo. If you have hardwood floors, you may want to add carpet and more furniture to the room to prevent the echo.

Additionally, if you’re recording yourself, you’ll want to make sure that you have a professional background based on your audience. For example, if you’re a business leader you may want your background to be more straight-laced than if you’re a speaking coach that wants to create rock star speakers. It’s up to you to determine what that means for your audience and your topic.
